New Year......New You

Posted on 2012-01-16 16:51:34

Happy New Year to you!!!  Hope you are having a great kick start to 2012!  I am certain this is going to be a great year!!!!  Many of you may already know certain things that you would like to accomplish this year with both your personal and professional goals.  Goal setting is a really amazing tool that many are not utilizing today!  We must be clear with what we want in order to set things in motion for them to occur.  Be sure to write your goals down as this is one of the key principles with goal setting.  Second you want to look at your goals on a daily basis and consider having a goal journal that you keep with you.  This way when you achieve your goals ahead of time you can set your next one!

Our biggest goal at Innate this year is to serve Bigger and Better!  As many of you step into the office you will see that we are changing things up for the better and the creative juices are flowing right now with better ways to serve our community at large.  When we look at where the world health organization ranks the USA at 37th overall in health that is hardly a good thing.  Some may be confused as we see our nation as having the best health care system in the world when in actuality we possibly have the best sick care system in the world and thank goodness for that!  Having a good sick care system means that people are not actively seeking what we call health care until there is a problem and if I can relate this with an analogy.

I would almost bet that most of us do not wait until we begin to really, really stink before we bathe most bathe every day or every other day, right?  We can never expect to bathe just one day and never again because the simple act of living puts us in a natural process with our bodies and after awhile odors start to occur.  Now, why would we ever think this would be any different to being an active participant in your overall health and wellbeing?  It’s not and we all can understand that!  You can’t be adjusted one time in our lifetime and never need to be adjusted again just as a person can’t work out hard for a month and expect to reap the benefits of their hard work long term!  The simple stresses (emotional, chemical, and physical stresses) of life create subluxation and chiropractors are the only doctors educated to specialize in detecting and adjusting subluxations.  Thus restoring proper nerve flow to the body, enhancing overall wellbeing, and optimizing each person’s full potential.

At Innate Family Chiropractic we have a huge passion for serving as many people as we possibly can.  We are on our way to doing just that!  One way we want to reach more people is through Wellness Presentations at local corporations, businesses, groups, and organizations!

Sometimes what a lot of us need is to ask for help when we need it and that is why I am asking and mentioning this to you all!  When you have a passion to serve fear can be bottled up in the meantime in order to do what needs to be done.  If any of you have any suggestions or referrals for places that want this type of service we would be beyond grateful for the introduction!

We have been doing outside talks for local corporations and groups over the last year and we would love the opportunity to do more!  Any chance we have to positively impact the lives of the people in our community we would love to be a part of it!

Thank you for being a part of our lives and for helping us serve bigger and better in 2012!!!  Set your intentions ASAP for 2012 if you haven’t already done so and make it a great year!!!

Check out our community connection for the month and our community invitation to celebrate the NEW YEAR with us at Innate Family Chiropractic Wednesday, January 25, 2012.  It is going to be a great night!  Open to all!

Health & Happiness,

Lady Are You Rich?

Posted on 2012-01-16 16:50:32

Hope you are all having an amazing start to your December!!!  I love this time of year when we can truly sit back and look at the past year and be grateful for all that we have and have achieved!  On a different note this time of year also brings my attention to the world at large and the pressures that we put on society to give the most expensive outlandish gifts to show our love for the individuals around us.  Many people extend themselves this time of year and create struggle for the next year trying to catch up.  Don’t get me wrong I love giving gifts like the next person but in the last couple years I have come to realize that the best gift any of us can give to those who are most dear to our hearts is our TIME.  Even going a step further the gift of our Time, Love, Attention, and Present Time Consciousness.  These are the most wonderful gifts in the world at large!

We all live in a great community!  I love living in Kansas City and truly want to help raise the health and vibration of every individual in this community in one way or another!  One way we love helping our community is through our monthly community connection where current patients and new patients can give back to the community and reap the benefits in our office.  It’s fun to help people kick start their wellness path in this way or win bonus wellness services through donations to local charities.

I recently read the following short story in a chiropractic philosophy book, “The Bigness of the Fellow Within” by BJ Palmer.  The short story is as follows:

Lady are you Rich??

They huddled inside the storm door- two children in ragged outgrown coats.  “Any old papers, lady?” I was busy. I wanted to say no- until I looked down at their feet. Thin little sandals, sopped with sleet. “Come in and I’ll make you a cup of hot cocoa.” There was no conversation. Their soggy sandals left marks upon the hearthstone.  Cocoa and toast with jam to fortify against the chill outside. I went back to the kitchen and started again on my household budget…The silence in the front room struck through to me. I looked in.  The girl held up the empty cup in her hands, looking at it. The boy asked in a flat voice, “Lady…. Are you rich?” “Am I rich? Mercy no! “I looked at my shabby slip covers.  The girl put her cup back in its saucer –carefully. “Your cups match your saucers.” Her voice was old with hunger that was not of the stomach. They left then, holding their bundles of papers against the wind. They hadn’t said thank you. They didn’t need to. They had done more than that. Plain blue pottery cups and saucers. But they matched. I tested the potatoes and stirred the gravy. Potatoes and brown gravy- a roof over our heads – my man with a good steady job- these things matched, too.  I moved the chairs back from the fire and tidied the living room. The muddy prints of small sandals were still wet upon my hearth. I let them be.  I want them there in case I ever forget again how very rich I am.

There are people in our own community who need our help and through helping others you will ultimately help yourself as well!  We all know the point of giving is not to receive but the wonderful news is when we do give for the sake of giving it all comes back to in one way or another.  Through increased joy, happiness, and fulfillment to name a few!

Please check out our community connection flyer for the month of December as well as our newsletter.  For patients of IFC who do wish to give a gift to loved ones we have a special offer to “Give the Gift of Optimal Health” for a nominal fee.

Thank you all for being a part of our lives!  We feel truly blessed to do what we do and serve you and the Kansas City community!

Wishing you all the best!

Health & Happiness,

Dr. Mindy

Giving Thanks!!!

Posted on 2012-01-16 16:48:57

Hello Everyone!

WOW!  The last ¼ of the 2011 is closing in as the holidays approach us!  Hope you have been enjoying this amazing fall weather as we start to transition to winter soon.  Please check out our newsletter for this month and our community connection flyer where we are taking donations for Harvesters KC!  Great opportunities for current IFC patients to win a massage and great savings for new patients when they donate a bag of food to Harvesters!

As we approach Thanksgiving I began to realize that Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays!  A Holiday wrapped more around expression of gratitude and love to those most dear to our hearts instead of giving gifts instead.   I firmly believe that the two most important aspects in life are gratitude and love.  Both have the capability to change anyone’s life for the better which creates a ripple effect for everyone around us!  This year I encourage you to consider writing letters to those who mean the most to you; you will never regret doing just that!  The powerful affect this will have on their lives and yours will be immeasurable.  These two expressions have the capability to motivate, inspire, drive, and transform lives and the world at large!

Recently I had a friend give me a book “Promptings” by Cody Bateman.  In this book he talks about our natural promptings in life and how many of us hold back too often (me included) when we know we should act.  Cody learned the hard way to share this concept as he and his family was moving across country for a new job.  As they drove off he was waving goodbye to his other family members and he had the feeling to stop and give his brother a hug and solid goodbye.  The horrible part as you may already guess Cody’s brother died just 4 months later when he was tragically electrocuted while working on the lights of a tennis court.  I don’t want to share this story to upset anyone but to prompt you to listen to your own natural promptings no matter how silly they may seem at times if they are centered on expressing love and gratitude then you can never go wrong.

I wish you all an amazing November filled with love and gratitude!  Enjoy your time off with friends, family, and those who mean the most.  Happy Thanksgiving you too!

For those of you who are patients I am so grateful to be you chiropractor!  Thank you for trusting me with your health and allowing me to be a part of your life!  I love what I do and am so thankful to be of service to you!

Health & Happiness,

Dr. Mindy Brown

"The Sole Purpose of Chiropractic'

Posted on 2011-08-17 21:54:56

"The sole purpose of Chiropractic is to reunite man the physical with man the spiritual"

DD Palmer

Wow, wow, wow! I love this quote more than words can say. Not only because I am a chiropractor giving chiropractic adjustments but because I am someone who receives these adjustments from my chiropractor! I love being a chiropractor and I love being adjusted. I often tell people that no one could ever pay me enough money to never be adjusted again and better yet you couldn’t pay me enough money to never adjust another person again. It is too important not to! Being well connected with my true self, with my spirit, with innate is the foundation for living our best life! This is what it all comes down to.

I think back to when I saw a chiropractor in high school and having this exact feeling of being reunited with “man the physical with man the spiritual” of course I didn’t completely understand it at the time. I FELT IT………………..and that can never be questioned. I will never forget my mom telling me on the drive home from the chiropractor how much she knew being adjusted really helped me. She said that before my adjustment on the drive over my energy was very low and I was, well a bit grumpy. Not my true self you could say. I am typically a pretty chatty person as many of you already know J and a pretty happy person. On the way over, after having waited way too long to be checked and adjusted I was definitely less than myself.

My chiropractor who I am very grateful for had unfortunately never made wellness recommendations but only symptom recommendations. The ol’ “Come back and see me when you feel you need to” and we all know that by the time the symptom is present it has already been manifesting under the surface for quite some time. So basically I would go the chiropractor absolutely miserable because that is when I thought we were supposed to go (only when we are miserable) but it is so much more than that! I followed these recommendations because I didn’t know the magnitude yet that chiropractic would change my life for the better and forever. A bit dramatic to some but to me it is ‘truth’ J it’s my truth. My mom pointed out to me that after every adjustment on the way home there was always a change in me. My energy would be charged up again, I would laugh and smile more, I was me! J I remember feeling kind of embarrassed hearing this at first thinking maybe I could have been better on the way over and I am telling you now as many of you already know I was at my best on the way over. Yet, my best at that time was not my best overall. Make sense? There were blocks in my spirit, blocks with the innate flow of life within me.

This is what DD Palmer is saying when he states that “The sole purpose of chiropractic is to reunite man the physical with man the spiritual.” We are all spirits living in physical bodies and with this comes the stress on the physical bodies themselves. The Triad= Physical Stress, Chemical Stress, and Emotional Stress. All 3 weigh down the body and create subluxation which means “less light”. This is the decrease in nerve flow, disruption to our innate, which makes us less than our best. So my advice to you is be adjusted and let your light shine bright all the while connecting your spiritual and physical self!
